Cruelty to Innocents by CK Webb & DJ Weaver

Woo, baby. We’ve got a team effort going on over at Life in Review.

It’s not nearly as juicy as you’d think: CK Webb and DJ Weaver have teamed up to write a book they called Cruelty to Innocents. Good title, don’t you think? It’d make a good band name.

You can check out the review of this thriller (what else would it be, with a name like that?) and then enter to win an e-book copy of it, as well. Not a bad deal, if I do say so myself… There are bonus entries, as well. That means you’ll want to read the rules and maybe even follow them. Following rules, I’ve learned, increases your chances of winning. And decreases the chances your entry will get trashed.

But you need to go fast: You only have until June 3 to enter! That’s only a few days off!

CUT by Patricia McCormick

Yikes. I think this might be too angsty for me, but … I’m not a young adult these days. And thank goodness for that, too!

The book is called CUT. It was written by Patricia McCormick, and it’s being featured over at Booking Mama. Which, of course, means it comes with a give. Two copies, in fact.

Hey, a quick note… this book is actually ten years old! This is the anniversary addition being featured. I don’t know if that helps explain why the contest is a US-only one or not. Maybe there is no good explanation for geographical restrictions (although I know there are. I’m just playing here).

Check it out and enter by June 7.

Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

From our good friend Rebecca Chastain at Number One Novels:

This week Number One Novels interviews debut author Ruta Sepetys about her novel, Between Shades of Gray. This is a “story of Lina, a fifteen-year-old artist who is arrested and deported from Lithuania to Siberia with her mother and younger brother. The novel chronicles not only Lina’s fight to survive but also her struggle to retain faith in mankind amidst Stalin’s terror.”

One copy of the novel is up for grabs in this week’s contest.

The Kiss Excerpts by Bianca Sommerland

Check out this e-mail from Bianca Sommerland. Like, wow!

Author Name: Bianca Sommerland

Contest or Giveaway title: The Kiss Excerpts

Contest Begin Date: May 28th 2011

Contest End Date: June10th 2011

Website or link where contest info can be found: http://imnoangelauthorsblog.wordpress.com/

Prize Offered: Copy of Rosemary Entwined or Deadly Captive in print
Brief description of contest:

All right, so here’s the deal. While I’m at the Lori Foster 7th Annual Readers and Writers Get Together, I’m giving you all a treat. For two weeks, you will get a chance to read excerpts from some amazing authors, and all the excerpts will share one common theme: The Kiss. Why did I pick kissing? Well, because I consider a sultry kiss contains more passion than any amount of bedroom acrobatics. Which doesn’t mean these excerpts won’t have some hot humping, it just means you’ll be judging them by The Kiss. There should be one kiss that, as one Princess stated in a cute movie ‘Makes your foot pop’, that one kiss that makes you say ‘Oh, yeah, I get why the girl/guy hopped in bed with this stud’.

You will be the judge of which excerpt has the best kiss. Vote for your favorite, comment, and you’ll be eligible to win your choice of either Deadly Captive or Rosemary Entwined!

These authors are also giving away copies of their books!

Cari Silverwood-Three Days of Dominance

Christine Ashworth-Demon Soul

Justine Elyot-Cat and Mouse

KD Grace-The Initiation of Ms Holly

Lucy Felthouse-Uniform Behaviour

Man, now I’m sad I decided to skip Lori Foster’s weekend this year. I could have met Bianca!

Queen by Right by Anne Easter Smith

If I ever think I’m busy, feel free to remind me of what Vera over at Luxury Reading is up to. She’s a million times busier than I am. I think. Like I said, it’s been crazy over here — and my kids are still in school!

Today, the feature at Luxury Reading is Anne Easter Smith, who has written a lovely guest blog post about Cecily Neville. Who, you ask? Well, go read the post and see. But I bet Cecily has something to do with Anne’s book, Queen by Right.

One copy of Queen by Right is up for grabs, as well. This is a US-only contest, and it’s got a deadline of June 10.

The Bake-off By Beth Kendrick

Here’s another go-fast-before-you-miss-it contest. (Really, I AM going to try to get to these faster. Again. It’s been nuts over here. In a very good way.)

Author Beth Kendrick has stopped in at Chick Lit Central to talk about her new book, The Bake-Off. This is a FUN interview; Beth doesn’t take things too seriously.

Two copies of The Bake-Off are up for grabs at the end of the interview, as well. They are restricted to homes in the US or Canada, and like I said, the entry deadline is tonight. May 31.

Public Service Announcement

First off, we need to say thanks to Sugarpeach for helping me post stuff of late. I’ve been crazy busy the past couple of weeks and it was great to sit down yesterday morning to realize the time I’d cleared for posting had now been freed up.

Second, if you were trying to access West of Mars over a five-hour period last night/this morning, you’ll want to click through to the Meet and Greet and read all about what happened. This is the downside to having my own server, in my own house. I’m at the whim of my electric company (as opposed to being at the whim of my host’s electric company).
