Yes, My Darling Daughter

I’ve never heard of a book called Yes, My Darling Daughter, but if Katrina at Stone Soup is saying it’s a good one, it must be. I’ve yet to see Katrina be wrong about a book.

Yep, Margaret Leroy’s book is the focus of this week’s give at Stone Soup. And what am I doing posting about it on Tuesday?

Guess my New School Year’s Resolution to stay on top of things hasn’t lost its luster yet.

The Art of Racing in the Rain

Over at So Many Precious Books, So Little Time, Teddy Rose is giving away one of her favorite books of 2008.

2008? That’s like… SO two years ago.

Yep. But great books never die, and according to Teddy Rose (because I haven’t read it and can’t speak for myself), this is one of them. Besides, a new edition is just out.

What is the book already?? I can sense you asking.

It’s The Art of Racing in the Rain, Garth Stein’s novel.

And you’ll get more than just the book. You’ll get a swag bag, as well.

The bad news is that this is a Usual Rules give. The good news is that if you fit that profile, there are a ton of bonus entries for you, and I know how much you guys like bonus entries.

Enter by September 10 and follow the rules or else you’ll get the big DQ. And I ain’t talking about Dairy Queen here, folks (although it’s hot enough here that the thought of ice cream is a good one!).

Call me Lucky

Yep, literary publicist Stephanie Barko is indeed holding a million contests. Each lasts only a day, though, so move fast if you want to throw your name in the hat.

Today’s book is Call me Lucky: A Texan in Hollywood. And you know what? I think that author Robert Hinkle has the whole title-after-a-colon thing down. It made me want to read the book! I can’t remember the last time that happened.

Like I said, this is a one-day-only contest. Go check it out, see if you can answer the question, all that fun stuff.
