Susan’s back!

I got home a little bit before lunch, tried and failed to take a nap, and ran out to see a family member who needed emergency surgery while I was gone… and now I’m here, at my desk, a CAT in my lap (Hey, everyone, watch as Mary has a heart attack!). I’d like to take this space to point out there is no poison ivy at the elevation at which camp is situated, that I never once missed the Internet, and that I’ve got a blister on my little toe … I probably shouldn’t have kept those socks on for 48 hours (yep, that means I went as native as most of the men. For a day. I’m such a trooper.).

I wonder if that one Scout has taken off his swim trunks yet???

I didn’t miss you guys; I was too busy watching my kid handle some difficult decisions with ease. But I AM glad to be back home with my friends. Absence. Heart. Fonder.

Today marks the official 75th anniversary date for the launch of Penguin Books, and

to parties in their hometowns, increase awareness of The Nature Conservancy, and
promote literacy.  At each event, a set of 75 Penguin Books is donated to a local
library or literacy group. Each author is signing the Penguin-mobile as it makes its
way across the United States, and the summer’s events will culminate with a party at
the New York Public Library in September where Penguin will auction the car with the
proceeds going to the New York Public Library.  Penguin is also donating sets of
books to numerous U.S. military bases in Iraq and Afghanistan.
