My respect for Wendy Holden is growing. She’s visiting all you book bloggers and making a real effort to connect with us readers. And her new book, Beautiful People, sounds like a lot of fun.
Stop by Apprentice Writer and read a Q&A with her. This is a fun, high-energy interview. Be sure to check it out — and then enter the contest at the bottom for Beautiful People, or pick it up in your local independent bookstore.
(contest is Usual Rules and deadline is May 7. Check out the bonus entries!)

You can read a review of it, too, as part of the contest post.
This is a Usual Rules give. Enter by May 17.

Over at Luxury Reading, there’s a kinda confusing give. It’s part of a Blogmania shindig of some sort and there’s prizes for the first HUNDRED people who leave comments. And then there will be 20 winners.
Those first 100 folk will each win a copy of Anthropology of an American Girl, by Hilary Thayer Hamann. The other 20… well, go read the post. Maybe I’m tired and worn out from my book sale restraint (I bought four books! Only!). I don’t know.
Enter by April 30, which happens to be today.
And this is a US-only give. You can be outside the US if you have a Stateside friend who’ll accept your winnings.

I TOLD you guys Earth Day wasn’t over yet!
Over at Brimful Curiosities, you can enter to win one copy of EcoMazes, which collects some mazes for your kids’ … wait. For YOUR sanity (heck, I’m a mom. I know.). Big thanks to Roxie Munro for creating this fun.
You can read a review of this cool-sounding book — I think *I* would like it! The heck with the kids!
This is a US/Canada only give. There are bonus entries. And the deadline is May 3. Get busy!

Read aloud poetry? What?
It’s what it sounds like. Our friends at Brimful Curiosities went in search of poetry to read aloud with the kids and … there’s a bunch of poetry books reviewed for your reading pleasure!
There’s stuff on this list I’ve never heard of before (as if I’m some expert. Far from it!), so check it out. I bet you’ll be exposed to new poetry, as well. And it’s stuff your kids ought to like — bonus!

The push for Wendy Holden’s new book, Beautiful People, continues! And I still want to read it, too — sometimes, I see so much about a book in a short period of time that I feel like I lose my desire to read it.
Does that ever happen to you guys?
Anyway, go over to Apprentice Writer today for your chance (If you’re a Usual Rules person) to win one of two copies of Beautiful People. Deadline for entry is May 7; you guys can read the rest of the rules. You’re readers.

There’s a multi-post event going on over at Bibliofreak’s blog. Author Shana Mahaffey has stopped in for a guest blog post about being inspired to write. But it’s more than that; it’s actually a quite touching post.
So then we have our second post in the extravaganza. This one is all about a give of Ms. Mahaffey’s Sounds Like Crazy. It’s even autographed!
The bad news is that, according to Bibliofreak:
This give away is, unfortunately, only open to people who have an address in the U.S. or Canada, since it comes from Shana and writers are traditionally poor.
Not that I know anything about THAT…
Hey! Here’s a poor author who’d rather reach EVERYONE than eat! She’s opened the contest to a worldwide audience!
Entry deadline is May 6. And yep, bonus entries for blogging and Tweeting…

If you doubted the reach of Stephenie Meyer, doubt no more. Even the men have jumped on the bandwagon!
Dan at Dan’s Journal is hosting a give for The Host. He’s got one paperback copy that’s destined to find a new home somewhere that fits the Usual Rules profile.
There are a few bonus entries, but it’s all easy. As in easy-going.
Enter by May 12.

I love gives like this one that Amanda over at Life and Times of a New New Yorker is running. You see, she won a bunch of books, read one, loved it — and then found another copy of it at a book sale. Now she’s giving THAT copy away to one of you guys!
It’s that easy!
The book is called Miss Fortune. It’s the first in a mystery series written by Sara Mills.
This seems to have no geographical restrictions on the give. If you’re not in the US or Canada, do mention that. Just to be safe.
Enter by May 10.
